Load Switch and Monitor PCB - CubeSat Electrical Power System
The University of Toronto Aerospace Team (UTAT) is currently building a 3U CubeSat to conduct crop residue mapping from Low-Earth Orbit. To control the load on the satellite’s power system, a partner and I designed a board that can switch the voltage rails to the satellite’s various components on and off. It is controlled by the on-board computer with I2C and it allows monitoring of the voltage, current, and power on each bus.
In coming up with this design, I explored the full suite of Altium’s schematic capture features. I made use of multi-channel design, repeat keyword, variants, rooms, buses, the component wizard, and more. Below is an excerpt from the top-level schematic of the project. The board is currently working and we’re testing firmware on it.
